What’s new
Version 2.0
A big release: a new Overview, interactive charts throughout and a new look. Here is everything that has changed since version 1.
A new Overview
- The first page you see. Every laboratory’s QC health at a glance:
- Lab Confidence and its most serious finding in one sentence.
- A card each for Accuracy (CRMs), Precision (duplicates), Contamination (blanks) and Despatch coverage.
- A Key Takeaway.
- Finds the problems for you:
- CRM bias, drift and trends for each analyte.
- Duplicate precision against each check stage’s limit.
- Blank exceedances.
- Periods with no QC at all.
- Current Risks and Worst analytes, worst first.
- Investigate or View data opens the chart behind a finding.
- The chart opens filtered to the despatches concerned.
- Featured charts: the laboratory’s worst bias (CUSUM) and worst precision trend (RD Rolling Median).
- Rules: set how the checks are judged. This covers precision limits by check stage, the analytes to assess and the minimum QC in a despatch. Your rules are remembered in your browser.
Interactive charts
- Every chart is interactive:
- Point at a result to see its details.
- Click a legend item to hide or show it.
- Open the chart full screen, or download it as an image or as the data behind it.
- New charts:
- Z-Score (in place of the Violin chart).
- RD Rolling Median.
- All Time Series.
- Interactive CUSUM and EWMA.
- Nelson 8 rules with a table of the rules broken. Click a rule in the table to highlight its points.
- Clearer control bands:
- Within the warning limits is green, between warning and action is amber, and beyond is red. Bands can be turned off.
- The 3 SD action line is in red.
- Shewhart charts show the median.
- Colours are safe for colour-blind users.
- Facet by check stage, with each panel’s own statistics.
- “How this is calculated” under each chart: the method, worked through with that chart’s own numbers.
- Corrected methods:
- The CUSUM allowance.
- EWMA control limits.
- Thompson-Howarth precision scaled to one standard deviation.
- Hyslop & White relative difference.
- Charts fill the page width. A chart that can’t be drawn says why in its place, not in a pop-up.
- Each QC type keeps its own filters and chart when you switch between them.
Getting your data in
- Results as laboratories write them:
- “<0.005” is read as half the detection limit.
- “>x” is read as x.
- Codes such as LNR or IS, and results of 0, are read as missing.
- Dates in any usual form. A date in the future (a typo) is read as missing.
- An import report on the Data tab lists anything in the file worth checking.
- Large workbooks:
- They are read a little at a time.
- The largest file is 50 MB.
- A sheet of blanks opens on Contamination.
- The templates download includes the expected-fields guide and SQL views.
- The demo data runs to November 2025.
Tables
- Statistics tab: accuracy statistics with their formulas, titled with the laboratory, CRM, analyte and dates.
- Data and Statistics tables wait for the filters to settle instead of redrawing at every step.
- Dates are shown in your own format.
Look and help
- A new dark design.
- Help:
- A “?” beside each area explains every part of it.
- A short tour runs the first time you open Cloud QC.
- What’s new: this page. The version you’re using is shown here and on the About page.
- Feedback replaces Support.
- Updated Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
Removed
- The Health Check tab: the Overview does its job.
- The Links tab and the old Help tab.
- The separate chart download button: use the menu on the chart.
