What’s new
Version 1.0
The first release of Cloud Structural Analysis.
Getting your data in
- Upload a CSV or Excel file, use the demo data, or type readings in by hand.
- Planes, lines, strike / dip / rake lines on planes, and oriented core (alpha / beta) are recognised by their column names.
- Quality checks on the way in: out-of-range values, repeats, empty columns, and for oriented core a convention check against the site’s own calculated dips.
- Drillholes, whatever you have: hole and project columns, a collar table (x, y, z) and a survey table (depth, azimuth, dip) are all optional. They give each structure its hole orientation and position, and draw the holes in 3D with the structures on them. Views that lack their data say what is missing.
Looking at the data
- Overview: the headline pattern, readings that do not fit it, the directions, fracture frequency down the busiest hole or a comparison of the structure types, and the flags worth checking.
- Stereonet: poles or great circles, contours (Kamb, Schmidt, Fisher), mean and cone, best-fit girdle and fold axis, principal axes, orientation sets, typed circles and intersections, angle tool.
- Rose diagram with the confidence of the mean, depth strip log, fracture frequency and RQD, attribute charts, 3D hemisphere.
Working with the data
- Rotate, unfold a fold, correct for drillhole sampling bias (Terzaghi). When any is on, a yellow note says so.
- Select readings on the net, exclude outliers with a reason, or analyse only a subset.
- Strike rule and magnetic declination for the way your data were recorded.
Help
- ? Help, and a ? beside each panel title, open a window with a picture of the area, each part numbered and explained. Pages cover getting data in, the tabs, the Filters, the charts, changing the data, the Overview, Data, Statistics, oriented core conventions and how to read a stereonet.
- A short tour starts the first time you open the app (and again on your first visit to Charts). Take it again from any help window.
- Feedback, About, Privacy and Terms are in the top tabs.
Getting results out
- PNG, PDF and SVG charts, the cleaned data with QC status and exclusion reasons, set tables, and a one-click report (HTML or PDF). The report now opens with a summary of the main finding and what to check, has a title band, tidy tables and the charts on their own page (PDF) or side by side (HTML).
- Your chart settings are remembered in your browser and come back next time (never your data). You can also save them to a file and load them again, and a button forgets what the browser holds.
