Accept or return certificates in the holding area
What happens in the Lab files holding area? Accept a certificate so its results open with the project, return it to the lab, or delete it.
At the end each certificate in the holding area has been accepted, returned to the lab, or deleted.
A kept certificate waits in the holding area, checked again every time you open it with your account’s set-up as it is now. Nothing from it reaches the project’s results until you accept it.
Before you begin
- Signed in, with Keep in a project chosen and the project picked under Keep them?. The Holding area card then lists what is waiting.
Steps
- In the Holding area, select a certificate’s row. Its report opens under the table.
- Read the verdict and the findings. Report (HTML) and Excel download this report, to send to the lab.
- To take the results into the project, select Accept. The message confirms it, and its results now open with the project under Projects.
- To send the batch back, select Return to the lab. The certificate stays in the project with its results left out, so the lab’s re-issue can replace it later.
- To remove it altogether, select Delete from the project, then Delete in the window. The certificate and its results are gone. This cannot be undone.

- Holding area: the certificates waiting, one row each, with the verdict as checked now.
- Accept: its results join the project.
- Return to the lab: kept in the project, results left out.
- Delete from the project: removed for good.
Result
The Holding area count goes down by one. An accepted certificate’s results are on the Overview, Charts, Data and Statistics tabs when the project is open.
If something goes wrong
- Accept says to confirm its codes and prefixes first. The report lists them under Before this batch can be accepted. Accept is refused while something is still to define.
- The holding area says no certificates are waiting. They have all been accepted or returned, or a different project is picked under Keep them?.
- An accepted certificate was wrong. Under Accepted and returned, select it, then Put back in the holding area. Its results leave the project until you accept it again.
