Set up codes and prefixes for each laboratory
At the end each laboratory’s result codes and row prefixes are kept in your account, so its certificates are read without questions.
Each laboratory has its own codes, such as X for below detection, and its own prefixes for its check rows, such as Dup or Ch. A prefix is the same in any case, so CH and Ch are one prefix. A client may send samples to more than one laboratory. So the app keeps codes and prefixes for each laboratory, and for each client. A certificate uses its laboratory’s own first, then those kept for every laboratory. A client uses its own first, then the account’s.
Before you begin
- You are signed in.
- Your stage list is loaded, if you use your own stage names: Use your own stage names.
Steps
- On the Lab files tab, under Your set-up, select Codes and prefixes.
- With clients, choose under For your account or a client. With none, the box isn’t shown and they are kept for your account.
- Under Laboratory, choose the laboratory, or type its name. Every laboratory is for codes and prefixes that all your laboratories share.
- To add them by hand, type a code under Add a result code and choose what it means. Type a prefix under Add a row prefix and choose its kind of row. For a lab duplicate, choose its stage. Then select Save the changes.
- To add them from a file, select The template (CSV) and fill it in: one row per code or prefix, with its laboratory. Then choose the file under Add codes and prefixes. The app says what it read and anything it left out. Select Keep these.
Result
The list under the pickers shows the codes and prefixes kept for that client and laboratory. A certificate from that laboratory no longer asks about them under Before these can be accepted.
If something goes wrong
- A row is not used. A code’s meaning is one of below, above, not assayed, insufficient, not received or missing. A prefix’s kind is lab duplicate, lab standard or lab blank. Correct the file and load it again.
- A stage is not in the stage list, or two duplicates share one. A stage not in the list is kept as written: add it on the Stages tab to give it an RD limit. Two prefixes cannot be lab duplicates at the same stage, so give one another stage.
- A certificate still asks about a code. Check the laboratory chosen above the certificates matches the laboratory the code is kept for.
Next steps
- Define result codes and row prefixes, for one a certificate shows that you haven’t set up.
